We were delighted yesterday to host some of the older members of the community, who joined us for an afternoon tea with the children. The children took time to not only sit and chat with our lovely visitors, but also performed some of their Christmas songs as a rehearsal for their upcoming performance next week.
We were delighted to see the return of Mr. Ken King (pictured), who for some years had been delivering the poppy talks to children each October, but had missed this year’s due to illness. We were thrilled to see him on the mend and loved his company.
Not only were the children a joy to listen to and watch, but it was also a brilliant opportunity for the youngest and oldest members of the comunity to interact with each other. One visitor stated that it was lovely for her to see the children as she didn’t see her grandchildren that often, so it was even more touching that our children’s efforts really had some importance to the guests.
We look forward to the same opportunity to meet next year, but are also looking forward to inviting our friends over on a regular basis.
Well done everyone, and a special thanks to Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Bemmer, who helped to organize the event.
