On the afternoon of Monday 12th July all children participated in a ‘Booknic!’ This was a lovely idea from the Open University, which encouraged us to “read, relax, eat and discuss books together, to build reading together memories” – it was also another wonderful way for us to promote our continued focus on Reading for Pleasure.
Children from our Preschool to Year 6 enjoyed snacks, sunshine and most importantly quality books. Many of the texts were based on children’s individual interests as highlighted by our recent reading surveys.
Monday 12th July was a day forecast full of rain! However, we were so lucky to have beautiful sunshine for the duration of our ‘Booknic,’ despite the rain being so heavy on either side of the event. We were very lucky!
We hope you enjoy looking at some of our photos and please do keep Reading for Pleasure over the Summer Holidays! We will be sending out more ideas to promote this next week, and sharing the exciting news of the Wild World Heroes Summer Reading Challenge!
