Sam Sedgman- Author Talk for KS2

Posted on

On Friday 9th July, we had an author talk for KS2 from Sam Sedgman. Sam, alongside M. G. Leonard, has written three books so far: The Highland Falcon Thief, Kidnap on the California Comet and Murder on the Safari Star. (Book four is being published in September).
They are all mystery stories set on different trains around the world with a lead character called Hal, who is 11 years old and has a wonderful skill of drawing in intricate detail, which helps him solve these mysteries. They are pretty meaty books appropriate for middle years children, hence KS2. The first book: The Highland Falcon Thief actually won the Children’s Book of the Year Award 2021!

It was really interesting to hear where Sam got his inspiration from, how research was done to prepare for books and how he worked with his co-writer developing the stories. I was very impressed with the range of questions asked by the children during the question time at the end too.  Many thanks to Sam for the talk.
