Well, the time is here folks, and I’ll be arriving at Dunkeswell Airfield at 6 a.m. on Monday, 20th June for my parachute jump for the PTFA, and also to break the GUINESS WORLD RECORD for the highest number of tandem jumps from the maximum height allowed (15,000ft, or flight level 150) in one day.
There are two reasons for doing this. Firstly, it’s to raise as much as possible for the PTFA. If all of the families give £2.50, then we will already have cleared £360. I’m hoping that if people want to donate more, there’s no reason why we cannot clear £500 or even more!
My day will begin with some training, where every aspect of the process will be covered. When this is complete, I will join the queue, and then take to the skies in one of the rare Beech 99 aeroplanes, which are apparently the most comfortable jump aeroplanes in the world, and one of the rarest too.
Strapped to my instructor, we will then sit on the edge of the open plane door, then push ourselves out. We will freefall for one whole minute, before the ripcord is pulled, the canopy opens and we come down to Earth once again, gently I hope!
I am obviously nervous about this, but at the same time, incredibly excited. I hope as many parents, carers and friends of the school as possible support me in this.
If you want to sponsor me for this, please download the letter attached in this post, cut out the slip and return your slip to school with your donation, preferably in person to avoid sending cash by post, but cheques can be posted to school, payable to Devon County Council.
Many Thanks for your support.
