On Tuesday, we were lucky to have two scientists and two engineers from iGems at Exeter University visit the school to do some fascinating biology with the children from Year 1-4. They were extracting DNA from strawberries!
The children had to follow all the instructions carefully in order to ensure that the DNA was extracted properly. As you can see from the photos below, the children had a wonderful time taking part in this scientific experiment.
Huge thanks to the 4 scientists/engineers who came in to give this opportunity to the children. A real inspiration, especially talking about potential careers in the future!
Also, in Year 5 and 6, there was a visitor who is an inventor. She talked about what she had invented for South West Water, which linked in to our visit on Monday really well. Thank you very much for coming in as well.
