In conjunction with the Rotary Club, Dawlish Community College invited 5 Starcross Primary School children to attend their annual technical challenge.
The challenge was to make a chair:
- 40cm from the ground
- With a back of at least 10cm
- Able to support weight
The equipment available was:
- Plastic drinking straws
- Glue guns
Mr. Ostler and our team of five Year 5’s were up against three other primary schools. They had an hour and a half to come up with a plan to build a chair. The challenge was on!
Mr. Ostler reports “fantastic teamwork and cooperation from all, with a lot of giggles along the way!”
Each chair was tested for its sturdiness with weights. Unfortunately team Starcross were not the winners on this occasion but the team did win 1st place for comedy value! See if you can spot why in the pictures.
A fantastic morning was had by all and we look forward to attending again next year.
