You will know as parents and carers that all schools in England have been given a new Curriculum, and the last twelve months has been a very busy time for us here at Starcross, as we have been busy making sure that every subject and its curriculum have been redesigned, reshaped and are fit for purpose.
Well, that time to embed the curriculum is now over, and we were delighted last night to see over thirty families come to the briefing meeting, led by Mrs. Vanderford and Miss Hirst. After a short introduction from Mr. Ireland, the short presentation and question and answer session proved to be incredibly useful not only in giving valuable information about how parents and carers can help, and what has changed, but we even managed to enlist the support of seven new parent helpers.
There was a really valuable chance to ask and answer questions about our relatively new Accelerated Reader scheme, and some parents even had a guided tour of the library too. We also spoke briefly about changes to the way in which we are reporting to parents from now on, with more regular written reports and drop-ins for parents each term.
If you couldn’t make it, please follow the link below to the Powerpoint presentation that was given out, so that you can be informed also.
Many thanks once again for coming, and it was fantastic to see you.
