The Avocets caught the train to Dawlish Warren on a very hot and sunny day.
The children worked with the Countryside Rangers to learn about the local wildlife and had the chance to try some pond dipping and minibeast hunting.
After lunch, the children learned about coastal erosion and how this has shaped the local landscape.
We then moved to the beach and the children experimented with different kinds of sea defences.
A great day out by the sea!
